In autumn
On the 8th, 9th and 10th of October,
from 10am till 5pm:
The 44nd Beervelde Garden Days.
What are the Beervelde Garden Days?
This event takes place twice a year, each second weekend of May and October . During these weekends, more than 200 nurserymen, designers and artisans exhibit, for the public's pleasure and enlightenment, probably the most spectacular variety of plants and garden-related ware one could hope to see in Belgium. Worthwhile to be mentioned: the prices of the plants are definitely lower in Belgium than in England or France.
Established as the country's most outstanding garden festival, Beervelde attracts thousands of visitors from all parts of Belgium and abroad. The show's success is due to the high standard of the displays and the quality of the exhibitors' stands, but above all to the very special atmosphere that prevails in Beervelde.
In fact, Beervelde pioneered in Belgium a fresh way to discover plants: in the open air and in an exquisite setting - quiet, congenial and elegant. Since the very first show, Beervelde has gained and retained the reputation of "Belgium's must for all garden lovers".
Theme: Apples and Pears from the garden
The booth of Natuurlijk will be a perfect example for all apple and pear-lovers. There you can get familiar with different durable and creative features of fruit trees such as arches and borders. They will also publish a very brief but practical brochure so everyone can enjoy the pleasures of healthy fruit from their own garden.
With this theme we shouldn't forget Bart Dequidt of Boomkwekerij De Linde. De Linde cultivates fruit and offers a wide scale of fruit trees and berry bushes.
Calle-Plant will use this theme as well to put their selection of fruit trees in the spotlights.
Boomkwekerij van Edingen is specialist in growing fruit trees.
At the booth of Van Kerckhove A. bvba fruit trees will also be available.
De Bock bvba will be present at the 42nd edition of the Beervelde Garden Days with his ornamental apples.
De Reebock is an arboriculture where Jean De Bock and his wife grow a wide scale of ornamental apple trees.
With our theme 'Apples and pears from the garden' Fancy Fruit couldn't stay behind. They will present the collection of the museum orchard of the Rijkel Castle at their booth.
Produits de la Vie, who surprises us every time with their selection of exquisite natural food products, will be present at the 42nd edition with their delicious apple chips.
For this occasion, the Ambachtelijke Imkerij will present their fruit honey.
De Loods Boerderij will establish an extensive booth where you can taste and buy all kinds of apples and pears and different kind of derivates like juices, sauces, vinegar, cider, calvados, etc.
New introductions
Gentiaan Bulborum Botanicum will offer the following special flower bulbs during the autumn edition of the Beervelde Garden Days: daffodils that bloom in the autumn, white sternbergie candida that bloom in spring and a collection of different kinds of Lilium martagon.
Groenpalet will launch a new sedum, Sedum spurium 'Pink Eye'.
Tuinplanterij Wim Timmermans will present in october their own, newly cultivated Rosmarinus officinalis 'Wilma's Gold'. They will also bring along a large collection of salvia's.
Heucheradream launches the newest hybrids of Heuchera, Heucherella & Tiarella. The latest American introductions are the most colourful at this moment: Heuchera 'Plum Royale', Heuchera 'Mahogany', Heuchera 'Southern Comfort', Heucherella 'Tapestry' & Tiarella 'Mystic Mist'. But there's also news from our regions: Heuchera 'Kassandra', Heuchera 'Sashay' & Heucherella 'Fan Dancer'.
In the beginning of the lane, Guy Van Rysseghem will present us his newest acquisitions of apple trees for small city gardens or terraces. These are small apple trees that are very insensible to most plagues. During the Beervelde Garden Days the varieties 'Sunlight', 'Moonlight' and 'Redlane' will be presented.
Bookpresentations
At the booth of Spruyt – Van der Jeugd, Laurence Machiels will present her book about the prairie-style, a way to use perennial plants as an alternative for a lawn.
Animations
At the booth of Bonsai Ateljee Callaert there will be lots to see. In October they will put their bonsaischool in the picture by giving permanent demonstrations.
As usual in October falconer Marc Goossens will also be present to give educative demonstrations with his birds of prey.
At Cook and Herb – Kruidenwereld, Wim Maes will provide professional advice about healthy recipes with apples and pears with herbs.
Animation for children
For the children, Olivier De Visscher will join us at the Beervelde Garden Days to teach them special techniques to climb in trees.
Also, Eddy Van der Sijpe will be back with his mini-shetlands. Under continuous guidance, children can pet the animals, sit on it or take pictures with it.
Other initiatives
At the booth of Sanguisorba, advice will be given about the combination of farming and fruits in the garden. Weeds and primal vegetables will also be on their menu.
Peter Bauwens and his wife from De Nieuwe Tuin will present us an extraordinary range of fruits and vegetables with the name 'La vie en rose' and they all have one thing in common: they're all pink!
On the former tennis court, the Park of Beervelde will present, in collaboration with GG Events, a brand new venue where companies can invite their clients on the occasion of the Beervelde Garden Days. This autumn we will only introduce this new concept and everyone is invited.
Good to know
De Tuinbouwschool Melle will provide, besides the traditional analysis of water on Friday, detection of diseases en plagues on Saturday and a demonstration of flower arranging on Sunday, a booth with old fruits.
